A quick way to remind yourself of the local TMP project plans and products created to date is to look at the TMP website partner page here: http://www.transitionmathproject.org/partners/index.asp. ** TMP is in the process of reviewing these individual partner pages and will be reaching out to all projects to make sure the pages reflect all you've accomplished and learned to date. We have the staff to be able to assist you in updating your project page to ensure it represents you well. More on this coming soon. Do you find this valuable? |

AMP-S has started supporting the Pierce County group (PC-3) by sending a team (one of our CTE teachers, a HS math teacher she works with, and a community college math teacher she works with; as well as two other members of our steering committee) to attend the CTE/Math Partnership Conference planned for October 28th. The team of teachers hope to improve their math skills and strengthen their group as a cohesive learning community. The steering committee members from our project will bring back ideas that we hope to incorporate into our plan for the following year when we take our project state-wide.

WAMAP.org Project. We are currently working with and supporting the TIME project in delivering a broad scale pre and post assessment for their senior course. We are connecting with PC3 and plan to work with their schools in developing assessments centered around the CRS that can be delivered on mass and graded simply online using wamap. We welcome connections with any other project that is looking for ways to deliver assessments to large groups of people, or with projects who would like to arrange for instructor training in wamap.org classroom use.

We are working with WAMAP for our pre- and post- assessments for the senior math course. In addition, we are creating GRCC placement exams using the WAMAP format. Barbara Freeouf has communicated with us to work together to assist in their use of the senior math course we have developed. This may lead to giving a workshop or two in southwestern WA. We would like to connect with a project east of the mountains to share what we have learned about our senior course and offer workshops if there is interest.

We would like to connect more with WAMAP as we look toward pre-test and post-test options for our bridge courses. We would also like to share what we are learning about parent/family nights with other projects who might be struggling with their efforts to get more people to attend. We also are interested in getting many more copies of the Whatcom County posters and are currently discussing this with them. Our group would also like to collaborate more with the Spokane Area Curriculum Collaboration especially as we get into deeper discussions around articulation agreements between colleges and school districts.

Whatcom County Math Project: •Many of our districts are interested in the development of good CTE math program that would fulfill the requirement for an additional math credit that students, not meeting the math standard, must earn after their 10th grade year. •Other districts are also interested an alternative to the traditional Algebra II course, perhaps an Applied Algebra II course that would be more rigorous than Geometry but would give students, who struggle with the traditional approach, an option to earn their Alg. II credit. Do you find this valuable? |

Whatcom County Math Project:We're interested in your bridge course and how the pilot year went. Will this be available for other partnerships? Also would like to hear your thoughts on parent/family nights. We're offering an Outreach in a Box this year to our districts. Do you find this valuable? |

OPTMP would be interested in talking with the Whatcom and ProjectTime projects about their work communicating with parents and students. Though we are proud of the videos and posters we developed in our first year, we have not been successful in implementing a plan for getting our message out to students and parents effectively.

"Whatcom County Math Project:The bridge course (Applications in Mathematical Reasoning, AMR) had a wonderful pilot year. This year seems to be going fairly well. Our professional development workshops are very successful. The parent advisory nights have grown each year. Currently we have over 50 people registered for an event in February! We will be hosting Ruth Parker as our main facilitator. Do you find this valuable? |

He is utilizing some of the pedagogy from our AMR senior course and a few of the activities for the students you are describing. Do you find this valuable? |

The parents are excited to have their children able to take a college math placement assessment on a college campus. In addition, the concept of being able to connect with college faculty (we have community college, public and private universities represented) is a draw. We also added dinner since the event takes place right during the dinner hour. Do you find this valuable? |

This reply is with regards to our sub-grant, Art in Math (AiM). The DigiPen TIME (Technology Integrated into Meaningful learning Experiences) module could fit well with the Issaquah Math/CTE initiative, or AMP-S project, the YVP (the portion where they are developing basically a senior math course for college transition), or Project TIME's senior math course. Some of the lessons that are being worked on would be very worth sharing materials and examples of student work, videos of the classroom etc. This module is an exciting unit that could take a couple of days or up to several weeks. Students are able to program a game from start to finish.

We are also providing the funds for each school to pay 2 math teachers or a math teacher and counselor to organize the math outreach event. Do you find this valuable? |

At the moment I think those projects and efforts that engaged in student and community outreach efforts and those who worked toward creating sustained communities; e.g. creating departments and/or PLCs that consistly address not only administrative issues, but those of content and pedagogy as well.
