"... we have four actively functioning teams of teachers who are committed to working together for the school year. By working together we mean that they will align lessons with the CRS, observe the teaching of those lesson (in person or video),and will enhance lessons based on student outcomes. We also will have been successful if we can improve the pathway for students completing applied math training at the high school level to enter and be successful in workforce training and AA degree programs at our community colleges. Success for this year therefore will be if we can initiate agreements for continuing present articulations and developing new articulation agreements between our districts. We also would like to have adjusted some of the prerequisites for selected math courses at the college level to acknowledge these articulation agreements. Another level of success for this year of our project will be to ensure that Applied Math can be used whenever possible to help students pass the WASL or to meet graduation requirements. "

WAMAP.org Project. Our year will be successful when 1) everyone who wants to use wamap.org with their classes has received sufficient training and support through our online course, support forums, a/o in-person trainings, 2) our CRMT practice items and CRS example item set has acheived reasonable breadth and depth, 3) wamap has sufficiently simple administrative frontends for delivering online placement and diagnostic tests, and 4) when wamap.org functionality meets the needs of its users. We have a well-attended Parent Advisory Night. The year’s end finds teachers who attend the workshops and students in the senior course learning to love problem solving and mathematics. More schools hear about the success of the senior course and are willing to offer it next year. An introduction of the WA State revised standards to high school, middle school and math college faculty creates a lively discussion about the Standards’ impact on our courses (this happened at our summer symposium). The connections between college and high school faculty continue to occur on e-mail. Do you find this valuable?

...three things happen. Students successfully complete Algebra 1. The course continues for next year. The Enhanced CTE course for Geometry is approved for the master schedule next year. We are looking at a Metal Shop class to apply the geometry concepts. Do you find this valuable?

PC3 Math/CTE Partnership Project: We are in the midst of planning for our October 28 Math/CTE Partnership Wokrshop, the second in an Institute series of 4 workshops. Our year will be a sucess when teams we have helpd through providing these workshops have their work recognized as part of the state effort to meet new k-12 math standards, the CRS, and the new math course requirements. We are trying to design workshops that foster best practice approaches to pedagy and student learning, and develop linkages in these efforts involving math and CTE around the state. We will be successful when we can identify and pass on to others the elements of the process of developing these workshops that are the most effective in engendering a productive team approach. Our two bridge courses have been successfully piloted at Wapato High School, West Valley High School and Heritage University. We have a simple and straightforward way to communicate college expectations to parents at parent nights across the entire ESD region presented by former students. Central Washington University, Heritage University and Yakima Valley Community College decide on an articulation agreement concerning placement of bridge course students into college-credit bearing mathematics courses. High school teachers and college faculty continue to discuss issues around mathematics education, and continue to observe and assist in each other's classrooms. Teachers from middle school and high school continue to be excited about learning mathematical content (happened in our summer institute and will continue throughout the school year). Other high schools and/or school districts hear about the sucess of students in our bridge courses and wish to implement these courses with their students. Do you find this valuable?

Whatcom County Math Project:
. . . we have had 1) full participation in our CRS Lesson Writing Workshop 2) several of our partner districts will have hosted a community outreach math event and 3) we have collected data in all of our districts on what math courses students are taking and can present this to schools in a report that is both useful and generates constructive conversations between districts.

We’ll know that our TMP project year has been successful when we have
• Enough consistent enrollement in the Math Success Strategies course at Shoreline CC that the course is offered each year.
• Students in math classes at Shorecrest will work on a sequence of math study skills as they progress through math classes.
• Students who have completed Math 3 at Shorecrest High School will have strong math study skills resulting in them have the CRS student attributes.
• Some of us hope that Shorecrest High School offers the Agile Mind AYD program next summer.

Olympic Peninsula Transition Math Project will be successfull this year when we:
* Have high and consistent participation from teachers, administrators and college partners in all grant activities including the Grant Leadership Team and our professional development events
*Have functioning PLCs in all 8 school districts and 13 schools in the project. The PLCs will have completed 4 cycles of the Professional Teaching and Learning Cycle together to collaborative plan and reflect on effective instruction
*Have a suite of products associated with supporting collaborative teams in the Professional Teaching and Learning Cycle (PTLC): 1)PD sessions focused on each of the 6 phases of the cycle, 2)A guide/reporting format for teams to follow while working in the PTLC, 3)A notebook of supporting resources for PLC leaders

1. I think we've acomplished our first goal, which was to establish a community of math educators from local high schools and colleges to come together to share information and initiatives, promote alignment and common standards, and create a positive environment for dialogue and mutual education.
2. The next goal is find the necessary support to sustain our current efforts on some level.
3. We hope to create a firm alignment with the Riverpoint Partnership and ESD 101 on a collaborative effort. The will and model are there, but time is our current adversary.
4. Real success will come with measurable increases in student success. I think we've been part of the motivation and support for local alignment efforts recently, and hopefully those efforts will bear fruit.
